Set the table for any occasion with this beautiful hand block-printed 100% unbleached kora cotton tablecloth. Be it a formal dinner party, a picnic lunch or for your cottage house, this fabric provides a warm finishing touch to any table setting. The hemstitched edges with complementary embroidery thread make it look, well, neat!

What makes this tablecloth special? The hand-block printing process. The patterns (motifs) are carved by hand on wooden blocks. Low impact dyes are mixed in trays; each color requires a separate block. The fabric is hand-stamped with one color, firmly and steadily to ensure a precise impression, then dried, re-wound and printed with the next color repeating the same process. Hand-block printing is an incredibly slow, labor-intensive process that combines the skills of an artist, tool maker, and carpenter – to craft a unique fabric that you will love!

  • 100% unbleached kora cotton
  • Contemporary designs (motifs) are hand-stamped on the fabric using wooden blocks and low impact dyes
  • Hand wash cold when necessary and line dry

This striking product is hand-woven by an artisan cooperative in Assam, using bamboo frame looms. The co-op of indigenous women creates intricately woven stylish pieces and incorporates traditional design elements and skills. This cooperative was formed in as a project of a local non-governmental organization to tap into the existing skills of weavers and expand income opportunities for women. They made a commitment to work specifically with the poorest of the weavers; the group steadily grew, forming a trust employing over one-hundred local weavers.
